Sack Gabions consist of a single mesh panel of double-twist, hexagonal
mesh of soft annealed, heavily zinc coated wire.
The mesh is provided with a steel reinforcing wire inserted during the manufacturing
process, to allow for faster closing during installation.
Sack Gabions are mainly used for emergency and river training works, where local
conditions require fast installation or the the water does not allow
easy access to the site (underwater installations).
The wire can be additionally coated with a continuous PVC (polyvinyl chloride) sleeve.
This provides protection against corrosion making them suitable for
use in marine or polluted environments.
Filling operations can be carried out either from the side or from the open ends of the
sack.
