WIRAND® steel fibers redistribute the forces within the concrete, restraining the mechanism of formation propagation and extension of cracks. The result is a more ductile reinforced concrete which is able to maintain a residual capacity in the post-cracking phase.
In slab on grade concrete solutions, fiber reinforced concrete improves behavior in the following terms:
- Shrinkage cracking
- Impacts
- Energy absorption
- Variable loads
- Temperature variations
In addition, comparing with steel mesh function, fiber reinforced concrete for slab on grade produces several advantages:
- The structural section is uniformly reinforced throughout its thickness, producing a high performance resistance element
- Increases joint spacing due to better control of shrinkage during curing
- Saves time and money in placing the reinforcing fibers, avoids cutting and placing mesh and separators
- Optimized concrete thickness can be achieved
WIRAND® steel fibers and FIBROMAC® synthetic fibers can be used separately or as a blend to complement the effects.
