Embankment Reinforcement With ParaLink
This project included the construction of a road embankment over an area of old mine
workings near Lochgelly, where there was either too little rock cover to guarantee a
subsidence-free life, or where the risk did not justify the cost of grouting.
ParaLink was laid both longitudinally and transversely to provide a high strength
reinforcement capable of controlling deformation and preventing potentially catastrophic
failure, by transferring load locally across voids, until remedial works have been carried
out.
ParaLink has a polyethylene sheath, which protects the polyester core from installation
damage.
