GCS (Grid Composite System)

The Maccaferri GCS (Grid Composite System) is designed specifically for use in marine applications to provide a reinforced filtration layer for improved foundation stability. It is an integrally formed geogrid structure manufactured of a stress resistant polypropylene material, bonded or sewn to a nonwoven, needle punched geotextile. The Maccaferri GCS (Grid Composite System) provides an improved foundation and filtration layer for a wide range of conventional construction alternatives. The geogrid enhances the performance by:

  • Providing a reinforcement for bedding stone foundation layers for uniform distribution of load
  • Reducing the required bedding stone layer thickness, effectively reducing the overall project cost
  • Providing easier installation of geotextile in marine environments due to added rigidity of the grid

The Maccaferri GCS (Grid Composite System) offers an extended service life and improved performance, which reduces long-term costs of maintenance, repair and replacement. It can be used in numerous applications, including:
